Hospital with flu-like symptoms in the last few weeks, tested negative for A (H1N1) influenza.All the persons were given treatment and were discharged, &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A awareness programme on swine flu organised by the hospital in association with the Rotary Club of Salem Texcity and Interact Club at Gugai Higher Secondary School here on Thursday.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mr. Shanmugam Dean Govt Hospital said that the Central and State governments had initiated concerted efforts to control the spread of swine flu in the country.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;About 200 persons in the State were found having the disease. Of them, 60 persons had been treated and discharged.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Asking the people not to panic over the spread of the disease, the Dean asked them to approach the government hospitals, if they had symptoms of flu. The disease is fully curable.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mr. Shanmugam asked the students to educate their parents and neighbours about swine flu.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;People should follow healthy habits and keep their surroundings neat and tidy.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;h3&gt;Swine Flu Simptoms&lt;/h3&gt;Although uncomplicated influenza-like illness (fever, cough or sore throat) has been reported in many cases, mild respiratory illness (nasal congestion, rhinorrhea) without fever and occasional severe disease also has been reported. Other symptoms reported with swine influenza A virus infection include vomiting, diarrhea, myalgia, headache, chills, fatigue, and dyspnea. Conjunctivitis is rare, but has been reported. Severe disease (pneumonia, respiratory failure) and fatal outcomes have been reported with swine influenza A virus infection. Leaders of various industries urged the kingfisher officials who were here y/day to take account the fesibilities of flight operations from salem, which the company spoke few days before. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The meeting focused on the advantages of reviving the airport for passenger traffic and tried to impress upon the trade team from the airlines by offering them a string of promises and hopes on the viability of their operations. The members of trade and industry and travel agents claimed that there was scope for operating flights to Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata via Chennai.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;President of Salem, Dharmapuri Chamber of Commerce and Industry S. Sathyanarayanan pointed out that the feasibility behind the passenger traffic from Salem Airport while the president of Salem District Small Scale Industries Association K Mariappan, who chaired the meeting, insisted on a reasonable airfare. Sellamuthu, George Rajamanickam and others spoke about the various opportunities to increase and improve the air travel from Salem&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On the educational front, Secretary of Sona Group of Educational Institutions A. Dhirajlal said that many students from various states and abroad, were studying in colleges in and around Salem and Namakkal. “Our institutions boast of nearly 400 such students and their parents frequently visit them here. The availability of air travel will be of a great boon to them since they spend long hours on trains,” he said.
